May Newsletter

Administrator Message

Happy May! Can you believe that we are in the final few months of the 2023-2024 school year? The excitement for end of year activities is building as we continue to focus on student achievement and academic success. Please make sure you are checking the Lady Eaton Website and communication from your child’s teacher so you don’t miss any important updates.

A big thank you again goes out to our Parent Council volunteers. They are key to ensuring our hot lunches and nutrition program operate smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a member of the Parent Council,  please contact the office.

We are also looking for some volunteers during the day to support some classroom based activities: letter names, writing letters and numbers, reading, math facts. If this is something you can help with please call the office.

Important Updates

Transportation/Bus Riding

Recently there has been an increase in unsafe behaviour on the bus to and from school. Our bus drivers have a large responsibility of getting students to and from school safely. This requires cooperation from the students travelling on the bus. Please review the general bus safety reminder with your child: sitting down facing front, quiet voice, respectful conversation, hands/feet to self, and the aisle clear. Students are not permitted to change seats without speaking with an adult. Rule infractions will be taken seriously and may include phone calls to parents, school based consequences (ie. losing recess) or temporary removal from the bus for a period of time (ie. 3 days). Your support and cooperation in this matter is important to us all.

Emotional Regulation in a Fast Paced World

Join us for a parent/family workshop on Wednesday May 29, 2024 from 6-7pm at Lady Eaton Elementary School. This workshop will support parents and caregivers learning about the nervous system and how to help children regulate their BIG emotions in a fast paced world. This event is hosted by our own Mrs. Pagett and Mrs. Czerniawski. Watch for a flyer being posted on the Lady Eaton Website soon.

Construction Update at Scott Young Public School

Construction continues to develop on time for a September 2024 start at Scott Young. At Lady Eaton you will see additional garbage bins as we sort through the years of materials to ensure only the highest quality teaching and learning materials transfer to Scott Young. At this time, we cannot accept any additional donations of school based items. We are focusing our priority towards clearing, packing and organizing materials for September. If you have items that you want to donate please do so at Scott Young Public School.

Safe Arrival Messages

If your child is not going to be at school for any reason, please leave a safe arrival message. To leave safe arrival information for the school: Dial 705-799-5292 and  select 9 for the general mailbox and leave a message. Thank you!

Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check

With year end trips approaching, if you wish to volunteer a current vulnerable sector criminal reference check is required. Please consider planning in advance to obtain this paperwork so you don’t miss out. If you have any questions about this process please give the school a call.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is overflowing. Please direct your child to check the lost and found for items that might belong to them. Any items remaining at the end of the year will be donated to a local community organization.
