April 2024 Newsletter

Administrator Message

Happy April! Spring is here and the increasing temperatures match the enthusiasm for learning in classrooms. We are in the final few months of this school year and we have many exciting things planned. Please keep sending your children with extra clothes and socks as the school year is muddy and wet in the thaw. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the learning fun due to a little dirt or puddle.

Please note that April 8, 2024 is a PA Day and there is no school for students that day.

On April 8, 2024 a solar eclipse is happening. Please check out the following poster on how to view the solar eclipse safely. Click here.

A big thank you again goes out to our Parent Council volunteers. They are key to ensuring our hot lunches and nutrition program operate smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a member of the Parent Council,  please contact the office.

We are also looking for some volunteers during the day to support some classroom based activities: letter names, writing letters and numbers, reading, math facts. If this is something you can help with please call the office.

A huge congratulations to our March Assembly Award Winners:

Plan Man.

Plan Man “He can organize anything”.

Yearbook

The 2023-2024 Lady Eaton yearbook is now for sale on School Cash Online. The yearbooks cost $20.00 each. Each child’s photo will be represented in the yearbook. This year, we would like to include some photos of past students who attended Lady Eaton as a final memory of all the amazing people who have been students of Lady Eaton Elementary School. Thank you in advance for your submission. Due to the anticipated volume of photos, only some photos will be selected. If you have any photos to share, please email them to [email protected]

Book Fair

We have some exciting news!  The book fair is coming to Lady Eaton on Monday, April 15, 2024!  All books will arrive on Friday and will be available for purchase for the whole week.

The sales from the Book Fair benefit our school library as we earn rewards to purchase books to add to our library collection. The Book Fair will be open at first recess and classes will also be assigned times to visit.  Students will be given flyers to explore some of what is available at the Book Fair.  The flyers also include a wishlist so that students can fill out what they would like to purchase. We are excited for the Book Joy to begin! If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Pagett at the school.

GoldiRocks Trip to Academy Theatre

On April 11, 2024 in the afternoon, our entire school will be going to the Academy Theatre in Lindsay to view the musical performance “GoldiRocks”. Goldi loves to play her electric guitar – all the time… when her mom takes it away, Goldi runs off into the forest where she meets the three bears. Along the journey, Goldi learned there is more to life than her guitar, like family and friends. It’s a wacky musical twist on the traditional “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” fairy tale. With fun sing-along songs, humor for all ages, fanciful costumes and sets, and a cast of 12, GoldiRocks will be one of the best theater experiences your children will have. We need volunteers to meet supervision ratios for this trip. Please contact your child’s teacher if you are available.

Construction Update at Scott Young Public School

Exciting things are happening at Scott Young Public school in order for successful amalgamation in the Fall of 2024. Foundations have been laid, walls are up and construction is continuing to create new learning spaces. In addition to the renovation of the existing classroom and the building of 2 additional kindergarten classrooms, a daycare space and early years center are being built. This means all the things that make Lady Eaton great will have a new home at Scott Young. More updates will come each month with more information about the move as it becomes available, but at this time, construction is on schedule and classes will be held at Scott Young in September 2024.

Attendance

School attendance is important for future success. Our students are working hard in their classrooms every day learning new skills. If your child is going to be away, please call the safe arrival number to let the office know 705-799-5292.
